Performance training in Cardiff

The Workshop offers performance training to people of all ages, through regular introductory courses. These run throughout the year and are held at The Workshop's studio space in the centre of Cardiff.

Each course consists of ten practical sessions and requires a weekly commitment of one weekday evening. For adults, there is an intensive weekend course option.

After the ten week course, a selection process takes place and students, if successful, are invited to join The Workshop. This does not apply to the intensive weekend course.

Training in performance skills in drama

Our training is designed to produce the performance skills required for work in film and television. We concentrate on developing each student's acting technique, specifically for dramas.

At the same time, many of the skills learnt can be applied to other areas of media work, such as presentation and interview technique.

Joining The Workshop

After completing our introductory course, some students will be invited to join The Workshop, and continue with their training.

On joining The Workshop, members receive weekly training sessions in a variety of performance skills to prepare them for film and television work.

The Workshop has approximately one hundred and fifty members. Our students come from mixed backgrounds and provide a culturally diverse pool for casting directors and production companies.

'The Workshop is amazing and great fun. If you want the chance of auditioning for a film or TV drama, it's the place to be.' - Jay Ruckley (Jason Mason in 'Grandpa in my Pocket')
