Training for TV in Cardiff

The activities of The Workshop are co-ordinated by a team of five, headed by Peter and Susan Wooldridge.

Their combined professional film, television and theatre experience provides The Workshop with the expertise necessary to respond to various, and sometimes, unusual requests.

Peter Wooldridge

Based in Cardiff, South Wales, Peter specialises in discovering and training new talent for the film and television industry.

With over twenty years' experience, his training workshops have introduced several established Welsh actors to the industry, notably Ioan Gruffudd, Adrian Lewis Morgan and Jan Anderson. More recent talented and aspiring actors include Craig Roberts, Darren Evans, Elinor Crawley and Hannah Daniel. They all started their careers at The Workshop

During the last ten years, he has also worked as a casting director and acting coach on a number of high profile international feature films.

Recent work

His recent credits include 'The Killer Elite' starring Jason Statham, Robert de Niro and Clive Owen; 'Nightwatching', written and directed by Peter Greenaway, with Martin Freeman starring as Dutch artist, Rembrandt. This followed another Greenaway epic, a trilogy of films named 'The Tulse Luper Suitcases'. Working with Oscar nominated Dutch director Ben Sombogaart, he cast the Dutch classic 'Kruistocht in Spijkerbroek' and assisted on the casting of another Dutch film, 'Bride Flight'.

Closer to home, his credits include 'Undertaking Betty' starring Brenda Blethyn, Alfred Molina, Christopher Walken and Naomi Watts; 'Summer Scars' for Prolific Films and 'Arthur's Dyke' for Channel 4 Films.

Susan Wooldridge

With over thirty years' experience working in the television industry, initially as a production assistant and later as news director at HTV Wales, Susan is well equipped to handle the day-to-day administration of The Workshop.

In addition to general administration, Susan co-ordinates the agency side of the business, negotiating artist bookings and contracts.

Her broad knowledge and extensive contacts in the media industry are a key factor in the continued success of The Workshop.

'The classes are enjoyable and so much fun. They offer life enhancing skills. The team have done an excellent job representing me.' - Darren Evans (Chips in 'Submarine' and Kenny in 'Hunky Dory')
